Skinned 2 Player Trackball Space Invaders Replacement CPO Control Deck for Arcade1Up

The control panel is beautiful but the Left joystick underside control and wiring did not clear the side wall of the cabinet once assembled. I used the metal plate of the Classic Red Ball joystick as a template for the mounting screw holes to be sure the joysticks were centered and they are. Much to my surprise, the left player joystick underside did not clear the side wall of the cabinet. I had to use a Dremel tool to channel out the to inside top edge of the sidewall of the cabinet to make clearance for the joystick mounting plate mounting screws, the wire connector on that side of the joystick which was already bent flat against the side of the joystick housing, and the wires.



I did contact DIY Retro Arcade and Shane responded that this CPO Control Deck is really designed for use with Sanwa joysticks which are a bit narrower that the Classic Red Ball joysticks that I was using. It would have been nice if the description for this CPO Control Deck stated that 'limitation'.



As it is, I was able to work around this issue but maybe not everyone will have the tools to do as I did. An additional note here is the Arcade 1Up to 60-in-1 kit sold here includes these Classic Red Ball joysticks which, if you are going to be trying to do as I have done, you may want to swap out the Sanwa joysticks or be prepared to get your Dremel going.



On another note, I did install the "2.25 Inch White Ball Arcade Game Trackball Compatible with Jamma 60 in 1 Jamma" sold here but mysteriously not listed as working with this CPO Control Deck without issue.

If you look at this picture you can see how tight against the side of the cabinet the left joystick is in the cutaway area of the sidewall of the cabinet. The third picture shows the cutaway I had to grind out of the sidewall of the top inside edge of the cabinet wall to allow clearance of the joystick.



Would have been 5 stars if I had known what I know now and had gotten the Sanwa joysticks to begin with.

I needed to finish a cab quickly and this was a great solution. Fantastic quality, I’m extremely happy with the panel. I ordered a handful of other things which were All great and will be using diyretro for future needs as well! If you are on the fence, pull the trigger. The cost vs saved time/work makes this a no brainer. Mad at my self for waiting as long as I did to pull the trigger.

Fantastic textured cpo for the price and button layout! I added a few more button holes myself. Recommend using a router to protect graphic.

The control panel is high quality and the overlay artwork looks great. I'd give it 5 stars but $80 is really pricey for what you get.

I upgraded a vertical Space Invaders cabinet to a Jamma system running the ArcadeSD board (pricey, but game emulations are spot on). Many of the games on ArcadeSD need a trackball to play better (Arkanoid for one), so I bought the diyretroarcade replacement deckboard that would allow two joysticks and a trackball to wire into the Jamma harness. The description indicated that only two 2.25 inch PS2 trackballs would fit the deckboard, but I went ahead and ordered the "2.25 Inch White Ball Arcade Game Trackball Compatible with Jamma 60 in 1 Jamma" trackball from diyretroarcade and it fit perfectly and was able to wire it into the Jamma harness. See review on that trackball for the pin out description, since the wire colors are not standard to other trackballs. This is my fourth control deck from diyretroarcade and they never disappoint in the build, quality, and durability.
